The gate blinks and bursts into life, drenching her in light so intense she has to look away. On the other side, rain drums against the ground. She turns a fraction, just long enough to see neon signs and a sea of umbrellas on the other side. The glow subsides, and she takes a few steps forward. Tokyo swallows her. Wednesday, Saturday. Zephyr, Tokyo. She repeats the words over and over in her head, the rhythm to her footsteps, until they become soft nothings.
